William Ullom, a graduate student researcher, joined the TSRC in 2011. He currently works on the Integrated Active Transportation Systems (IATS) project. This project seeks to determine the best ways to implement Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in order to create safe and seamless transportation for the future.

Prior to joining the TSRC he attended the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon. At the University of Portland he worked on a project to ascertain differences in runoff quantities and time of concentration between a conventional roof and an eco-roof. His interests in transportation engineering include how to use transportation systems to shape more livable societies as well as how to apply ITS to mass transit systems to make them safer, more efficient, and more equitable. When he is not pondering how best to privatize transportation systems while ensuring universal access, he enjoys cooking, listening to public radio, and reading science fiction/fantasy novels.
