Nelson joined IMR as a graduate student researcher in September 2009. He is currently researching ridesharing, particularly its dynamic or “real-time” applications, from an international perspective. He is interested in its potential to improve transportation sustainability and lower traffic congestion.  Nelson is currently a Transportation Engineering student at UC Berkeley pursuing a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree. Prior to coming to UC Berkeley, he earned a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UCLA in 2009. There, he focused on water and wastewater treatment. He participated in research regarding the use of membranes and nanotechnology in water purification, renewable energy, and environmental protection.
