Irina Badulescu is an undergraduate student researcher who joined TSRC in May 2011, drawn to TSRC's environmental emphasis. She is currently working on Smart Truck Parking, aiming to improve parking information and reservations for truckers in order to reduce unnecessary driving and fuel consumption. Irina is studying bioengineering at UC Berkeley with an interest in various applications of synthetic biology, including the development of alternative fuels.
On campus, Irina is actively involved in Berkeley Engineers and Mentors, a mentorship program that provides science and engineering outreach to local K-12 schools. In her spare time she loves to read novels, sing along to every song she hears, and backpack through beautiful landscapes.
