Adam R. Smith is an undergraduate student researcher who joined the Innovative Mobility Research group in October 2009. Adam is studying at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) on a full academic scholarship and will graduate in Spring 2010 with a B.A. in English and a minor in Conservation and Resource Studies. At present, he is working on a smart truck parking project to reduce global greenhouse emissions in accordance to California’s Assembly Bill 32.

In his free time, Adam enjoys surfing along the Northern California coastline as well as writing pieces of both surf and travel journalism. He is interested in continuing his education in environmental studies at the graduate level with a focus on environmental law and policy. At present, his studies have focused on the ways in which nature has been represented in the public imagination through, and with the encouragement of, popular literature. He spends his nights studying, orchestrating beach clean-ups, and closely monitoring offshore buoy data for any hint of new swell.
