Elliot has been with IMR since 2005 and joined as a post-doctoral researcher in 2009.  His research interests include transportation energy analysis, shared-use transportation systems, choice modeling, and life-cycle assessment.  Elliot has studied the use of advanced and alternative fuel vehicles placed within households and corporate environments to evaluate the energy, environmental and behavioral implications of different drive-trains.  In addition, he has been heavily involved with research in carsharing, including the study design and analysis of greenhouse gas impacts of carsharing in North America.  Currently he is pursuing a diverse portfolio of projects related to feebates policy, smart truck parking, plug-in hybrid and hydrogen vehicle use, and data innovations for advanced choice analysis.

Elliot earned a PhD in Transportation Engineering in 2009 following a dual Masters in Transportation and City Planning, all at UC Berkeley.  His dissertation explored the effectiveness of combining aggregate and disaggregate data to evaluate vehicle policy through choice models.  Prior to coming to Berkeley, Elliot worked as an Assistant Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.  As an undergraduate, he attended Johns Hopkins University completing majors in Economics and Computer Science.  He is originally from Long Island.
