Segway LLC aims to help replace short automobile trips by efficiently moving people and goods, therefore reducing automobile traffic and pollution and serving as a connector between a home, destinations, and transit. Mr. Kamen began working on the Segway Human Transporter in 1991. It was officially unveiled in December of 2001, and is expected on the consumer market by the end of 2003.
