A recent study out of California indicates that the best way to reduce
fuel usage and emissions is not by legislation or technology, but by
education.
In its report, "Ecodriving and Carbon Footprinting: Understanding how Public Education Can Result in Reduced Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Fuel Use," the Mineta Transportation Institute provides a review and study of ecodriving and finds that exposure to ecodriving information had a tangible impact on people's driving behaviour and some maintenance practices.
