Diverse Populations

Project Description

IMR is working with researchers at UC Davis and UCLA to explore travel patterns of California’s diverse populations.  This project will provide Caltrans and other transportation agencies in the state with an essential foundation for the design and targeted marketing of transportation systems and services to enhance the mobility of California’s diverse groups.  Research on this project will include a literature review on travel patterns and behaviors of diverse groups, census data analysis, and focus groups and interviews targeting Mexican-immigrant travel behaviors.  The results of this research will be compiled on a CD-ROM for state transportation agencies and planners to use as a reference to improve transit options for immigrants in California, and will be used as a building block for further research aimed toward improving transportation services for California’s diverse populations.
